Some algebraic considerations for nonlinear stochastic realization

Foto of Prof. Sankar Basu Sankar Basu studied Physics at Presidency College, and Radio Physics and Electronics respectively receiving B.Sc (Hons) and B. Tech degrees from Calcutta University, India. Subsequently, he received PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, and travelled to Germany as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow.
During the intervening years he was a faculty at the Stevens Inst. of Technology in the 1980s, a researcher at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center in the 1990s, and has been with the US National Science Foundation (NSF) for the last decade-and-a-half. He also held visiting appointments at the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems (LIDS) at MIT, a short term visiting appointment at the Naval Underwater Systems Center, CT and more recently he briefly visited the Wroclaw University of Science & Technology, Poland. He also held an advising position at the US Embassy in Berlin as a science fellow on nano-technology related affairs.
His broad technical interests are circuits, signals, systems processing, machine learning, micro- and nano-electronic design, and emerging computing technologies. His significant professional activities include being the founding General Chair of the IEEE Int. Conf. on Multimedia & Expo (ICME), Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems, and co-organizing a NATO Advanced Study Institute on statistical machine learning at Leuven, Belgium. He has served in various editorial capacities for about ten international journals, including the Proceedings of the IEEE.
He is a Fellow of the IEEE, and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
